Farooq Shaikh was born on 25 th march, 1948 in Surat to Mustafa and Farida Shaikh and is mostly known for his works in the parallel cinema. He studied from St. Mary s School and St. Xavier s College and had a law degree. Later he joined FTII and started as the theatre artist. His debut film was garam Hawa as a supporting actor. Some of his famous works are Satranj Ke Khiladi, Gaman, Noorie etc. he won the National Award for the film Lahore. His talk show Jeena Isika Naam Hain where gained him more popularity. He died on 27 th Dec, 2013.
